Out of an abundance of caution, John Knox Presbyterian Church session has voted to suspend church activities.
This includes worship, Bible studies, dinners, fellowship events, and in-person meetings.
The Session has put together a Task Force that is actively working on a plan for when to return to in-person worship and what that might look like. Though the governor lifted the stay at home order at the beginning of May, we will be cautious in our return – We have not yet set a date for in-person worship. Instead, our ReImagining Task Force will discuss returning to in-person worship while relying on science, the expertise of doctors, the guidance of the CDC, the leading of the Spirit, and the corporate wisdom Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery. JKPC has not stopped worshiping, caring for one another, or reaching out to the community. It is only the building that is closed. Let us remember we are in uncharted territory. Patience is not only a virtue but a necessity.
Please pray for: the Task Force, our elders, our congregation, the larger church, and the whole of the of the world.
Our board of Deacons meets the third Thursday of every month to discuss ways to better serve the congregation and minister to our homebound members and the Tulsa community.
We are currently meeting virtually over Zoom.
While we are not currently hosting our monthly Community Taco Dinner, we are still committed to feeding people in Tulsa.
Each month on Taco Dinner Night, stop by the church office (the 'office' doors are on the NW side of the building at the top of the hill - follow the sign to the office and see the covered sidewalk) starting at 5:30 to receive a $10 Braum's giftcard. Braum's offers burgers and ice cream as well as staples like milk and produce. There is one located right around the corner from John Knox on Harvard.
If you are hungry, stop by.
